The 10 Malaysian Universities Partners With FAVORIOT

Any digital transformation starts with the people. Technology adoption will face a stumbling block if we don’t have a generation of leaders, makers, thinkers, and doers. The same goes with IoT adoption – we need the right people, the right mindset and right competencies. FAVORIOT in the quest to develop a Generation-IoT,  recently partners with ten (10) Malaysian Universities to provide better hands-on skills and tools to the University students (and lecturers) in developing their IoT solutions using FAVORIOT middleware.

The list of the Universities who joined the program are listed below:

2. Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM)
3. Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL)
4. Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS)
5. Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA)
6. Universiti Tenaga Malaysia (UNITEN)
7. Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM)
8. Universiti Sains Malaysia (USIM)
9. Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP)
10. Asia Pacific University (APU)

It is expected about 300 graduates every year will be utilizing FAVORIOT platform for their Lab experiments, Final Year or Research projects. The program will allow more than 1500 devices to be connected to the platform.

Since July 9, 2015, when Malaysia first announced and rolled out its National IoT Strategic Roadmap, many have asked what happened next? I have been very persistent in my opinions regarding how to grow IoT in the country such as going beyond conferences, funding, digital transformation and create a healthy ecosystem. I was expecting that 2017 can different from the previous years. Although they are many IoT activities in Malaysia I felt the pace is still insufficient. If Malaysia wants to compete and become more competitive, we need to generate 100K IoT professionals by 2020. Thus, we do we start?

Here’s where FAVORIOT plays a key and significant role in helping the Universities to equip the graduates with relevant and up-to-date hands-on skills. Recently we have six (6) Malaysian Universities agreed to partner with FAVORIOT whereby we provide our FAVORIOT platform for their Lab usage, projects and Beta trials. The hands-on experience with a commercial IoT middleware will help to increase their skills in developing IoT solutions. There are Tutorials with sample source codes to quickly connect either their Raspberry Pi or Arduino onto FAVORIOT.

The IOT journey is long-winded and full of challenges. There are many barriers to overcome. But with the right skills and ecosystem, we can achieve our objectives to become IoT hub of the Region.

KUALA LUMPUR (April 13, 2017) – The Deputy of Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Sultan Zainal Abidin University (UniSZA)from Terengganu visited Dr. Mazlan Abbas, CEO of FAVORIOT at Puchong today.

Both organizations have the vision to see more Malaysian-made products to be commercialized. To reach out to the industry, UnisZA sees the potential of FAVORIOT’s platform to support their initiatives in encouraging industry-based research.
